The lovely people at Micro Bar Box asked if they could send me one of their cocktail boxes to try and review. Their concept is simple, you can order a box to send to a friend for whatever occasion and they’ll deliver a set that allows them to make a few drinks at home on their own (you can even send it to yourself if you fancy giving a few new spirits a try). The cost of their Cocktail Box is £43 + P&P and within that you get four cocktail recipes (the ingredients are enough to make at least 5 drinks).
The box contains the following:
50ml Hendricks Gin
50ml Edinburgh Gin
50ml Martin Miller’s Gin
50ml Wight Mermaids Gin
50ml Chase Elderflower Liqueur
40ml Campari
50ml Bramley & Gage Sweet Vermouth
150ml Folkington’s Indian Tonic Water
150ml Folkington’s Soda Water
250ml Folkington’s Rhubarb & Apple
And this slows you to make a Classic G&T, a Negroni, an Elderflower Collins and a Rhubarb Gin Fizz.
It’s a pretty good gin box for me because a) we all know I love mixing cocktails and b) I don’t like tonic water, so only have one to contend with in the sampling process was OK in my book.
The nice thing about the cocktails is bar a glass you really do have everything you need to make them within it. If you want to add garnish obviously that’s extra but not necessarily required for the taste. Each one is really easy to make and takes under 60 seconds to make.
When I calculated each of the individual items cost you’re looking at around £33 worth of products or it costing the equivalent of £8.60 per cocktail which isn’t too bad to send something directly to people’s doors. Each of the cocktails tasted great and I loved making a n Negroni (or two) for the first time!
You can order the boxes in advance to be delivered on a specific date. You can also get 10% off your first order using BSGC10 🙂 and if you are a gin lover I’d strongly suggest you try their 7’s heaven gin box here.
They’re a great idea to send someone something a little different, or if they are celebrating a special occasion and you’re unable to be there to celebrate with them. You can see the cocktails I’ve made below 🙂
