My Everyday Winter Skincare Routine

Posted on January 1, 2020January 1, 2020 by bethshehata

Over 2019 I introduced skincare to my Instagram account; skincare is probably my first love but I never expecting the overwhelming number of questions I got on a recent Instagram Q&A and as such I promised I’d post more blogs on it!

To give you the history (It’s important when you talk about skin), I’m now 28 and have been a victim to acne since I was around 13 years old. The reality is, we (the docs and I) think I have endometriosis, and I’ve spent most of my teen and adult life fighting with hormones.

My skin was always what I would describe as “oily, acne prone skin” it’s also incredibly sensitive. I became pretty good at managing my skin, until my hormones threw a curve ball: Enter having dehydrated skin* for the first time.

I’ve spent years trawling through online blogs, going through masses of skincare books and trailing what may help, I’ve probably spent more money than I would care to admit on “fad skincare” and felt pressured to buy things over counters, only to leave them go dusty on a shelf whilst feeling disappointed. What I do love though, is the knowledge this has given me. I am not a skincare professional, but someone who is sharing my own skin experiences.

So, this blog is going to be on My Everyday Routine in Winter. I’ll link all products; for transparency, I do not use affiliate links in this blog. Some products were sent to me to try originally and I have stuck with them and continued to buy them.

Morning Routine

  1. (*) Cleanse with Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser
  2. (*) Wipe Clean with Face Halo** and pat dry (never rub)
  3. Wipe over Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence
  4. (*) Apply Clinique Anti-Blemish Clearing Gel to any pesky spots (as this is a gel, it’s drying so I don’t apply it all over)
  5. Apply Dermalogica Age Bright Clearing Serum (and leave to dry)
  6. Apply an eye cream, I’m going to be honest and say I still haven’t found one I love! I’m currently using Philosophy’s Take A Deep Breath gel cream which is very refreshing.
  7. (*) Next Moisturise, shocker, I’m using Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Moisturiser
  8. Then Dermalogica Barrier Defence Booster
  9. (*) Finally, finishing with SPF, every single day, I’m currently using Beauty Pie Ultra Light SPF25

I appreciate this is quite an intimidating list, so those that start (*) are what I’d consider essentials!

Evening Routine

I do this as soon as I get in from work / the earliest opportunity

  1. Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse to make sure make-up melts off
  2. (*) Wipe Clean with Face Halo** and pat dry (never rub)
  3. (*) Cleanse with Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser
  4. (*) Apply Clinique Anti-Blemish Clearing Gel to spots
  5. Every other day I alternate between (*) Beauty Pie Plantastic Drops and Beauty Pie Superactive Capsules with Hyaluronic
  6. Wipe over Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence
  7. (*) Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Moisturiser
  8. Finally, before I go to sleep, I apply Beauty Pie Retinol Night Renewal Moisturiser

My weekend routines are slightly different, as I try to give my face a little more intensive treatment, but I’ll explain more on that in the next blog!
