File Away Friday Bealim House

Posted on January 10, 2020January 5, 2020 by bethshehata

File away friday is a post on a recommended place to visit or things to do, save it, book mark it, make a note in your phone for future!

I was invited to Bealim House to try their new Ginvention. and got mega excited when I found out it’s where they distil Newcastle Gin (a favourite of mine, I know, what rock had I been under not to have been here before?)

If you’ve never been before it’s a fantastic industrial building with a bar upstairs and down too (you can rent private sections).

Ginvention

Ginvention is a brilliant concept, you’re met with a box of different ingredients (from sweet to savory, there’s chocolate, tea, coffee, fruits, herbs, spices, the lot!) 100ml of Newcastle gin each and you get to select 4 mixers to go with your drinks. The idea is simple, you flash infuse your own flavours of gin.

It’s a lot of fun concocting the different flavours to try (we developed a rather suspicious rating out of 10). My apple chili mixture didn’t score well, but the Turkish themed gin I infused (mint, cucumber and lemon) was crazy good. As was the raspberry, strawberry and passion fruit gin!

It’s £25 per person (you make 4 drinks) so that’s £6.25 per drink which is worth it. I’d give yourself at least 90 minutes to do it! It’s also a great idea for a birthday treat, or if you’re looking for something different to do as part of a hen / stag party. You can book here and if you mention Ginsta-Vention when you book you’ll get an extra 100ml of gin so you can double up 😉

Peckish?

Definitely peckish by the end so we sampled the food menu too, with lots of vegetarian and gluten free options. I’d recommend the halloumi sticks, the tempura prawns with wasabi mayo and the patatas bravas to name a few.
