I’ve been an advocate for salon facials for a while, but recently I was asked if they’re worth it. I try to get one at least once every 3 months.
Here’s 8 reasons why it’s worth giving them a try
Discover new products
Chances are you will be exposed to products you haven’t tried before, which will help you build you at home skincare routine and help maintain a healthy skin all year round.
Speak to an expert about your skin
Do your research on your therapist. I love a Dermalogica facial as the professionals who administer these always spend so much time getting to know your skin and tailoring it so that you get the best treatment.
Great for your mental health
Take some time to yourself with your thoughts, relaxing can be a great way to look after your mental health too. I usually try to book a few treatments together and have an afternoon to myself (plus At Sisters bring the prosecco!)
Not all facials will come with this, but it’s a (slightly gross) favourite of mine. A professional will safely remove impurities and dirt from your skin, this does include some gentle squeezing and preening around your pores!
Targeted Areas and Treatments
You can book a facial that suits you, whether the concern is over dryness/dehydration (and you want some intensive moisture) to anti-aging or deep cleansing treatments. Chat to the salon when you go to book about your concerns and they can recommend the best option for you.
The Salon Glow
I’m not sure this one needs an explanation, the glow your skin has post a trip to the salon is definitely worth it, I try to book in for early Saturday morning so I can enjoy a weekend free of make up and my skin.
Dream Make Up Application
I almost find a salon visit resets my skin, it really helps with make up application and it is going on and staying put. I guess the better the base is the better the make up will apply!
Help with bloating and drainage
Finally, if you face is feeling a little bloated, the facial will help to massage your face enabling it to drain properly reducing bloating. Extremely useful before a big event!
Where to go?
In the North East I love At Sisters which is on Pink Lane in Newcastle, the Bannatyne’s spa in Darlington and Whinstone View in Great Ayton.
